Edinburgh Sport Awards 2017

Nominations are now open for our annual Edinburgh Sports awards.

We have a strong sporting community in Edinburgh. One to be proud of! The time of year has come again to recognise the achievements of our sportsmen, sportswomen, coaches and sport organisations.

It’s time to reflect on last year, look forward to the coming year and show our appreciation to all our clubs, coaches and volunteers and what they do for people and communities across the city.

We have categories for:

  • Clubs
  • Coaches
  • Volunteers
  • Officials
  • AND new to 2017 – Recognising Sport Achievement

Coaches, Volunteers & Officials automatically are nominated for the national sportscotland awards!!

CSE Sport Grants – micro grant programme

Do you need some additional funds for your club?  Do you have plans to expand the number of teams that you offer?  Are you trying to encourage more children, adults, girls, etc, into your club?  This grant programme is for you.  We are offering grants of up to £250 with the following key themes:

The specific areas which our grants will support are:

  1. Club Start-up – for newly established clubs
  2. Club Development – New section/programme
  3. Target groups – programmes for specific groups underrepresented in sport
  4. Adults into sport – encourage adults back into sport

School Sport facility bookings – Edinburgh Leisure operation

Please note that Edinburgh Leisure are now managing the bookings of all state school venues across Edinburgh.  This means that the existing arrangements that you have had over the past number of years may change. You must make sure that you e-mail Edinburgh Leisure with your school booking requests at

City of Edinburgh Council – Physical Activity and Sport Fund

This is an annual grant funding programme for clubs that promote sport and physical activity in Edinburgh. You can apply for up to £2, 500 funding for your running costs.

The grant cannot be used to fund
•               individuals
•               travel expenses
•               accommodation
•               training or residential camps
•               Major citywide events

The Council are particularly interested in supporting the development of sports hubs and projects which promote multiple sports.  Only a very high quality application that targets people on low income or living in an area of multiple deprivation would receive funding at the top level of £2,500.

Meadowbank Sports Centre – Club Consultation

The redevelopment of Meadowbank Sports Centre is moving forward and there is a plan to close the facility for a re-build in December 2017.  There will be a consultation with clubs affected by the Meadowbank development works.  Should you have any concerns, issues, etc, please contact us at in order that we can make sure that your voice is heard!
