Dear Club Representative,
ClubSportEdinburgh welcomes the decision made by the City of Edinburgh Council to postpone the proposed pricing structure for school sport facility hire. Some schools were due to be subject to huge price increases during so called ‘non-core hours’ starting in August.
The plans have been put on hold while a full assessment is carried out on what impact this will have for clubs and the communities that we operate in.
The ruling stated that the postponement related to the ‘non-core hour’ payments. We will endeavour to identify what this means about the adult price rate increases and release a further statement on this in due course.
ClubSportEdinburgh has listened to clubs, governing bodies of sport, sportscotland and people in our communities. Particularly supported by Basketball Scotland and Scottish Volleyball, we made a presentation to the City of Edinburgh Council on Thursday 28 June on behalf of all clubs.
The presentation and debate by all of Edinburgh’s Councillors can be seen on the Council’s webcam recording online.
We would like to thank all clubs across Edinburgh for spending the time responding to our call to action. It is clear that our voice is far stronger together.
We will now begin the task of working with the Council and other stakeholders to support an impact assessment on clubs. Your involvement will once again be crucial.
Rest assured that ClubSportEdinburgh will continue to lobby for a strong sport infrastructure which allows clubs to work effectively in communities for the good of the people of Edinburgh!
