Safety in Sport

  • Appoint a designated person for Safeguarding /Child Protection and ensure that this person has attended “In Safe Hands” child Protection training course. (For clubs with junior sections)

  • Have adopted a suitable Safeguarding/Child Protection Policy and be compliant with the associated procedures, in accordance with governing body requirements. (For clubs with junior sections)

  • Ensure that all coaches and volunteers involved with activities targeting children and young people are subject to safe recruiting procedures that include checks via the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme

  • Be committed to ensuring that all club coaches and volunteers working with children and young people have attended or will attend Safeguarding & Protecting Children Training

  • All coaches are aware of the venue/area Normal Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments and conduct relevant activity risk assessments where required

  • Provide access to qualified  First Aid at all coaching and competition sessions

  • School swimming pool users only – Have appropriately qualified lifeguards in attendance
